Roses
May 15th 2007
May 19th 2008!
I think someone gave my rose bush some steroids or something while I wasn't looking. It has pretty much tripled in size in the year since I planted it! I didn't even do anything fancy when I put it in the ground. Just dug a hole and put the root ball in and that was it. I always thought roses were supposed to be hard to grow or something. *shrug* Beginner's luck perhaps?

Stimulating!
My economic stimulus check appeared in my checking account today like magic! I got the full $600. Now my search for a new washing machine (that I've been putting off) can officially begin. I'm trying to think of something a little more fun to spend the rest of the money on, not that having clean clothes in my own home won't be fun, heh. I may splurge on a massage though or some other frivolity.
How are you planning to stimulate the economy?

Yum.
Sometimes when I get depressed I like to bake. This works out nicely for my friends, relatives and coworkers. At least I don't dance when I'm angry.
Tonight I made-
Pineapple Upside-Down cake with FRESH pineapple.
Chocolate chip cookies!

Hope Quotes
I have a thing for quotes. I'm not sure what the deal is. . .I know it sounds kinda lame. I realized that a lot of quotes I've been adding to my collection lately have been about hope. So, here is a hope themed sampling from my quote collection.
"I can endure my own despair, but not another's hope."
~William Walsh
"To eat bread without hope is still slowly to starve to death."
~Pearl S. Buck
"Far away there in the sunshine are my highest aspirations. I may not reach them but I can look up and see their beauty, believe in them, and try to follow them."
~ Louisa May Alcott
"Hope is the thing with feathers, that perches in the soul, and sings the tune without words, and never stops at all."
~Emily Dickinson
"Hope is the worst of evils, for it prolongs the torments of man."
~Friedrich Nietzsche
"Hope is a state of mind, not of the world. Hope, in this deep and powerful sense, is not the same as joy that things are going well, or willingness to invest in enterprises that are obviously heading for success, but rather an ability to work for something because it is good."
~Vaclav Havel
"Act in the direction of hope."
~Pastor Lynn Martin
